Morehouse College won its seventh consecutive crown taking the 2014 SIAC Men’s Cross Country Championship presented by Rock Hill / York County Convention & Visitor Bureau on November 7, 2014 at the Winthrop University Golf Course.

The Maroon Tigers captured six of the top 10 spots at the SIAC Cross Country Championship and ran away with their 20th conference title in 21 years. Head coach Willie H. Hill was again named the SIAC Coach of the Year.

Scoring 23 points, the defending champions came within eight points of a clean sweep in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s season finale.
Benedict (89 pts), Kentucky State (95 pts). Albany State (96) and Stillman (128) rounded out the top five teams.

A slight variation in the Maroon Tiger order of finish was the only anomaly in the race, in which Morehouse was the odds-on favorite.

All season, the normal order of finish had been Shinaola Agbede, Christopher Wilder, Gerald Jones and Dahir Mohamed taking the top four spots, with Christian Dixon, Novian Middleton, Kameron Scott and Michael Wooten competing for the fifth scoring position.

Today Mohamed had other plans. Mohamed finished first for Morehouse, and second overall, behind Benedict College’s Dessie Demlew. In his best race of the year, Mohamed covered the 8K course at Winthrop University, in 27:04.89.

Wilder was close on his heels, at 27:20.84. Less than five seconds behind was Jones, in a time of 27:25.20, and in a sprint to the finish line, ahead of Agbede whose time was 27:27.01.

The order was altered but the end result was the same, as Morehouse continued its total domination of the SIAC cross country championship.
For their season-long accomplishments and their performance in the championship, six Maroon Tigers were name to the 2014 All-SIAC Men’s Cross Country Team.
